Tools & Service Suppliers

Tools & Service Suppliers

Moral Fabric helps you keep track of which tools (software, platforms) and service suppliers (agencies, consultants) your organization uses and which roles are responsible for them.

Key concept: Tools link to Roles, not Teams

Tools don't connect directly to teams. Instead, the connection goes through roles:
Tool → assigned to Role(s) → Role belongs to Team → Tool appears on Team page
When you open a team page, the app automatically shows all tools that are linked to any role within that team. You don't need to manually add tools to a team — just link them to the right roles and it happens automatically.

The Tools page

You can find all tools at Tools in the left sidebar. This page shows every tool and service provider in your workspace, along with which roles use them.

How to link a tool to a role

Go to Tools in the sidebar
Click on the tool you want to link
In the tool's detail panel, add the role(s) that use or manage this tool
The tool will now automatically appear on the team page(s) those roles belong to
You can also do this the other way around:
Open a role (from the Roles page or a team page)
In the role detail, add the tool(s) that role uses

How tools show up on a team page

Open any team and you'll see the tools section in the detail panel. This list is automatically generated — it collects every tool assigned to any role in that team. There's nothing to configure on the team itself.
Example: If the "Software Apps, Tools & AI" role uses Slack, Asana, and 1Password, and that role sits in the Operations team — then Slack, Asana, and 1Password will all appear on the Operations team page.

Platform tools vs. workspace tools

There are two levels of tools:
  • Platform tools — added by Moral Fabric centrally. These are common tools (Slack, Asana, Google Workspace, etc.) available to all workspaces with logos and descriptions pre-filled.
  • Workspace tools — added by your organization for tools specific to your setup.

FAQ

Q: If I mention a tool in a team description, does it link automatically? No. Team descriptions are just text — mentioning a tool there has no effect on the tool-team link. You need to assign the tool to a role within that team.
Q: Can I link a tool directly to a team without going through a role? Not currently. Tools always connect through roles. If a tool is used by the whole team but doesn't belong to a specific role, consider linking it to the team's Lead role.
Q: Where do I add a new tool that isn't in the list? On the Tools page, use the Add button to create a new tool for your workspace.
